Really helpful update & context. In addition to all of the other effects, it will be interesting to see how wildlife respond to these changes, especially those that depend on that stream & it's oxbows. We've had 3vyrs of serious drought & now deluge. Boom & bust have always occurred yet they appear to be becoming more extreme & more frequent

Thanks, Lisa~

We haven't heard the cricket frogs for the past several years and I wonder if the drought hit them? It really didn't seem to influence conditions in the oxbow so much EXCEPT there's been less standing water and the wetlands have contracted. I thought that I heard one this spring as we got ready for the archaeology field school, but I couldn't get a response when I tried to start a conversation with hitting rocks together. Geologists love that biology trick!

I wondered whether the torrential rains that flooded much of the state of Minnesota had affected Bull Run Creek. A fascinating report of what happened with clear presentation of factual information. You let the creek speak for itself in a roaring voice. Wow.

Thanks, Jill~

And I wondered if the weather patterns messed up your trip to northern Minnesota! Hope that it's been productive and that the return trip isn't complicated by weather or flooding.

There was one long night of hard rains up north here but the land has been ditched, drained, and dredged so much that there wasn't much flooding though the water levels on Lake of the Woods did rise significantly. Southern Minnesota is still feeling the effects of the heavy rains. The mosquitoes and ticks are doing extremely well here.
